Summary:

The first book in the Dennison Property Story Series. Characters to relate to, with human failings, humour and chemistry. (Each book is a standalone read in its own right) Kitty Phillips has worked as Blake Dennison’s pa for 2 years, and has kept under this playboy’s radar by hiding her true looks and temperament. Until her first foray back into the dating pool sees her being taken in by yet another womaniser. Back in the office Kitty’s temper slips its leash and she tells Blake exactly what she thinks of him and men like him. Blake’s bored and wants a woman who’s more of a challenge, although he’s never looked towards his employees for his entertainment. That is until he sees the woman Kitty’s been hiding from him for the last couple of years, and then he’s all for breaking his rules. Blake begins a game of cat and mouse as he pursues Kitty, but they both get more than they bargained for. Kitty’s passionate nature ignites Blake’s blood and stimulates his mind, and in Blake Kitty finds a man she’d lost hope of ever finding. Have they finally met their match? Or will underhanded dealings steal away their chance at finding the only one for them?

My review:

5/5 Stars

I absolutely loved the tension between Kitty and Blake throughout this book. Blake is a hot guy, Kitty’s boss, and isn’t afraid to go through woman after woman. Kitty is the opposite. She hates Blake for what he does and hides her looks to ensure that he won’t notice her. One day, things change, and she lets Blake know exactly how she feels. The result isn’t what she hoped for however. Now he has his sights on her.

Kitty and Blake were so well-developed they felt like real people. I loved every interaction between the two of them because it was always laced with some emotion. The dialogue was as strong as the character development and so were the details of the setting. This is a great book to what I imagine starts a wonderful series. If you’re a fan of angsty romance, this book is for you!

Proud author responsible for Dead by Morning and The Council, fascinated by the dark and macabre. Stephen King is her all time inspiration mixed in with a little bit of Eminem and some faint remnants of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. When she began writing, she started in horror but it somehow drifted into thriller. She loves the 1988 movie Heathers. She was born and raised in Michigan but traveled across the country to where she currently resides in Texas.
