For those of you waiting for updates about The Elemental Coven, I’m happy to announce that it’s in the works. I’m about halfway through the first draft and to celebrate, I wanted to share a short excerpt with you today.
The anticipated release date is January 2019 though I will most likely be looking for Betas midway through 2018. If you’re interested in becoming a Beta reader for The Elemental Coven when copies are ready, use the contact page to send me your name and email address and I’ll add you to my ARC list 🙂
My hands clench into fists and I’m ready to shout obscenities at Willow, Sabre, and even Maverick when I feel the anger begin to leak out of me like water from a broken pail. I know who’s behind it…it’s the same thing Fleur pulled when I encountered her before. I had been so wrapped up in my emotions that I hadn’t bothered to prepare for her magic and now it’s too late to counter.
Willow uses my silence to continue. “Sabre is one of my best Aens warriors and he’s more than qualified to teach you proper air manipulation techniques.”
I scowl at him but under Fleur’s influence, it’s the closest I can get out of my true feelings. His expression doesn’t change but there’s something about his lack of emotions that makes my blood boil. How can he be so careless after everything? The new surge of emotion goes straight to my telekinesis which I’m quick to use to knock Fleur to the ground. Without her magic to stop me, the anger is back full force and I knock Sabre to his knees.
“I know all too well what you can do. Look…look, you bastard!” I scream, hiking up my dress to show the scars dappled across my side. It doesn’t occur to me that I’m flashing my panties until a blush makes its way to Sabre’s face.
“I’ve seen plenty now, thank you,” he says, composing himself before he stands to his feet.
Willow jumps to her feet, stomping with each step until she’s closed the distance. She grabs my elbow, fingers digging into the skin until I drop my dress back into place.
“You’re hurting me,” I say with a grimace.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” she hisses in my face as if she either doesn’t notice how tightly she’s holding me or doesn’t care.
I shrug innocently. If she wants to play this game, I can just as easily do the same.
