Book Review: She Never Got to Say Goodbye

Title: She Never Got to Say Goodbye

Author: Ica Iova

When Olivia decides to put her career on hold to be a mother, she never expects to see ghosts much less be one. One moment she is planning her future, and the next she is floating at the foot of her son’s bed. Dead. Murdered. And all evidence points to her husband. She is angry and determined to make him pay but if she wants justice she must follow the clues that reach back into Brandon’s past.

My review

5/5 Stars

This story went from 0 to 100 real quick. What starts as a seemingly normal romantic story turns into a chaotic paranormal nightmare. Olivia and Brandon seem like the perfect couple, newly married and debating when the best time to have a baby is. Olivia, heavily focused on her career, finally agrees with her husband and they have a son. Then everything changes. Olivia wakes up dead and can’t remember who killed her.

I absolutely loved the worldbuilding in this book with the author’s ability to seamlessly move the story between the seemingly normal and the paranormal. After Olivia is killed, it’s fascinating to see the way the author contrasts Brandon and Olivia’s feelings on every scene. The easy writing style leads its readers on a trip they won’t soon forget.

Proud author responsible for Dead by Morning and The Council, fascinated by the dark and macabre. Stephen King is her all time inspiration mixed in with a little bit of Eminem and some faint remnants of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. When she began writing, she started in horror but it somehow drifted into thriller. She loves the 1988 movie Heathers. She was born and raised in Michigan but traveled across the country to where she currently resides in Texas.
