My Review

5/5 Stars

I always love to read new takes on mythology, and this book was right up my alley. From the very beginning, I was hooked at the prospect of this girl who’s been groomed her entire life to be a sacrifice. That idea alone set up the world within the story in such a way that I couldn’t leave. I was spellbound as I read through the different character ARCs, waiting to see how they would all clash.

I think throughout this piece, my favorite character was Urdik because he made his dedication to his sister so clear. He was willing to risk life and limb for her to live, even though everyone else had accepted the idea of her death since the time of her birth. All the characters were written in a way that made them three-dimensional, with their own goals and flaws, and that made the story even better.

Proud author responsible for Dead by Morning and The Council, fascinated by the dark and macabre. Stephen King is her all time inspiration mixed in with a little bit of Eminem and some faint remnants of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. When she began writing, she started in horror but it somehow drifted into thriller. She loves the 1988 movie Heathers. She was born and raised in Michigan but traveled across the country to where she currently resides in Texas.
