Summary

Terrifying and sickly stories for courageous readers. “Dreams of a mentally ill” is as its name applies – a book that invites you to cross every line and dive into the repressed darkness that is hidden in the soul. If you are looking for stories that will keep you awake and lost in thoughts, this is the book for you.

My Review

4/5 Stars

I am always on the lookout for new authors in the horror genre, and I have to say, I was not disappointed with this book. It’s exactly as the title suggests, a collection of dark short stories. These aren’t happy tales but ones laced with the darkness of human nature and the despair of tired human psyches.

Though Yunger is a new author to me, I was happy with the slight Stephen King-esque vibes I got from a few of the stories. This collection contains 14 stories in all, each one more chilling than the last.

Once I got used to Yunger’s style, I found this hard to put down, and I actually finished the collection in one sitting.

This is a perfect chiller for Halloween.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Proud author responsible for Dead by Morning and The Council, fascinated by the dark and macabre. Stephen King is her all time inspiration mixed in with a little bit of Eminem and some faint remnants of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. When she began writing, she started in horror but it somehow drifted into thriller. She loves the 1988 movie Heathers. She was born and raised in Michigan but traveled across the country to where she currently resides in Texas.
