Summary
A demonic overlord is determined to enslave humanity, and the Council of Light is determined to stop him.
Darian, a young, talented scout in the Imperial Austrian Army, spends his time tracking and outsmarting Napoleon Bonaparte’s forces. But his routine soldier’s life changes when he witnesses the impossible one night.
Demons are being summoned from Hell right in his hometown. And they’re leading everyone he’s ever known and cared about to their deaths.
Darian might not even believe it except for the strange man he’s just met. Raphael gives Darian two choices: stay with his regiment or join the Council of Light. One choice may save his country, but the other will secure humanity’s future.
Darian’s decision leads him into a new war filled with demons, human sacrifice, and the supernatural. Will the Council of Light be able to stop Zar’Asur, the demon overlord, from taking over Europe before it’s too late?

My Review
5/5 Stars
So, wow!
I loved just about every aspect of this book. Whenever there’s a good versus evil clash, I’m on the edge of my seat, but this one had me especially interested. When Darian is sent out onto the battlefield as a scout, he isn’t prepared for what he sees—creatures with horns tearing about his hometown.
Unsure of what he’s seen, Darian meets a man named Raphael who turns his life around forever. Serving on the Council of Light puts him in the middle of a new war: one involving magic, angels, and demons.
The growth of all the characters was strong throughout this piece, but it’s seen the most in Darian because we get to see him not only grow as a soldier, but as a person, and a magic wielder as well.
While this story has a historical background, it merges into fantasy/suspense genres with plenty of chaos and things happening on every page. This is a must read for people who love a good epic fantasy/angel story.
